Ghana Business & Finance magazine launched
Ghana's first global business magazine, Ghana Business & Finance, was launched in Accra on December 1, 2010. The upscale monthly business magazine is focused on serving the information needs of Ghana's top-tier media readership, including top executives of corporate Ghana, multinational corporations, banks and financial institutions as well as government agencies, international organisations and foreign investors.
At the launch of the magazine at Alisa Hotel in Accra, the Managing Editor of Ghana Business & Finance (GB&F), Mark Anthony Kwateng said: "We have observed that there is a segment of the Ghanaian media readership which is grossly underserved. These readers, mainly business leaders and policy makers need news information they can identify with and relate to; they need information they didn't have before which they could use; and they need a medium through which they could reach their discerning clients with their corporate messages. And GB&F has come to meet these needs."
"The complaint of many Ghanaian CEOs and foreign investors is that they often have to assemble all news publications in Ghana including surfing the Internet in order to gather information about a specific sector. This situation leaves a big yawning gap of accurate and relevant information to fill. That is why GB&F has accepted this challenge and to deal with it has introduced what we call the 3-dimensional business news reporting."
Mr. Kwateng explained: "With this approach, we are not just interested in breaking the usual business news through investigative business reporting, our articles go further by helping readers expand their knowledge on the subject matter to enable them to see and take advantage of existing business opportunities. The same article also tells the reader how government is helping or not helping to improve the business environment to encourage more investments or otherwise; and the article shows how Ghana is getting better or worse off with the development the magazine is reporting on."
The official launch of the magazine was performed by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon. Fiifi Kwetey, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Kwabena Duffour. Other speakers at the launch were top business executives, Dr. Paa Kwasi Nduom, Chairman of Gold Coast Securities, and Mr. Francis Dadzie, president of the Advertisers Association of Ghana. The magazine is published and owned by African Business Media, a Ghanaian registered company with Ghanaian, African and non-African shareholders. The magazine is now available in all leading hotels, grocery shops, book stores and news stands.
